On today's episode of Tom Is A Big Fat Geek Who Has Too Many Old Macs And A Bit Too Much Free Time On His Hands, I will be repurposing a 2010-era #MacMini with #Ubuntu #Budgie so it can run #Homebridge in place of the 2014-era Mac Mini that is currently running Homebridge under #macOS Monterey (which hasn't been supported in years).
But first: ☕️

Alright, got #HomeAssistant set up on my #RPi3 and got it connected through my browser and iOS app. Added a few devices but have to find a way yet to connect my #Carrier #Infinity thermostat, #Flair smart vents, #Leviton no-neutral switch wifi hub, #Nest thermostat, #Orbit #Bhyve sprinkler controller, #Hubitat, and #Roku.
You know, just a few things 😆
Also got Ring connected but the cams don't work. They weren't working in #Homebridge/#Homekit anyway, so whatevs.
I am SO tired of bridges & devices disconnecting from #HomeKit & breaking my scenes & automations, forcing me to periodically reinstall & reconfigure them.
Today may be the day I begin migrating from #HomeBridge on my #RaspberryPi to #HomeAssistant on #Linux #Ubuntu. First thing first, gotta learn wtf #Docker is.
I may soon be venturing into the realm of running #Jellyfin on my #raspberrypi #RPi3 alongside the existing #HomeBridge installation… wish me luck!
But not tonight. I am le tired.
