Oo, lizzies up and scraping around the ceiling!

#Hibernators

Do you love #biodiversity and want to help #creatures from smaller #mammals like #hedgehogs over #insects or #spiders up to #soillife? Especially before winter, #deadwood is important for the #garden. #Hibernators find shelter in it. And #insects, #spiders and #beetles live here during the year. #Earthworms find moisture under it, even in hot summers, as do #fungi, #mosses and #lichens.
If you examine the #soil under deadwood, you will see how new #humus is created. Reserve a shady corner for this. If you have to remove such a pile, do it in spring when hedgehogs are active again. This is my huge pile from cutting #blackberries. Do you remember episode 1 of my #podcast #NatureMatchCuts? It's about "The Mess We Hate And The #Beauty Of #Brambles" - listen at https://naturematchcuts.net
Nature Match Cuts – The Podcast Reconnecting You With Nature – Petra van Cronenburg

NatureMatchCuts is exploring marvels of biodiversity and fascinating cultural heritage. Listen to inspiring stories from the intersections of science and nature writing, cultural knowledge and art! In a confusing and challenging time of crisis and multiple transitions, we need to overcome the obstacles on our way to solutions and change: our anthropocentric and disconnected view of life. The more-than-human life should get a strong voice of storytelling.
