Also ich kann zu dem Experiment "Accounts auf verschiedenen Instanzen haben" nur ermutigen, und bringe hier gern noch einen neuen Aspekt rein: Auffindbarkeit von Beiträgen via #Hashtag . Denn jede Instanz zeigt zu einem Hashtag nur die Beiträge, die sie auch "kennt" - also in den allermeisten Fällen deutlich weniger als "alles, was es im Fediverse zu diesem Hashtag gibt" ( was ja vielleicht VERMUTETE Verhalten wäre ).

Das Extrem ist eine neue, noch leere Instanz: die würde GAR NICHTS kennen/finden .

Ok if I jump in? I like advocating for the use of hashtags!

My understanding of hashtags and federation is this:
Via a hashtag you will see all public/global (not: unlisted. (as mentioned already, thanks @FirstProgenitor ! )) toots that your instance "knows of". That is
1. all toots that originated on your instance
PLUS
2. toots from accounts on other instances as far as at least 1 account on your instance follows that account.

(So usually bigger instances (or a small instance with it's users following lots of accounts on other instances) see/know bigger parts of the fediverse.

Ich kann noch ergänzen: kleine ( bzw. wenig vernetzte ) Instanzen kennen nur einen kleine Teil aller Toots, das macht es schwer, Dinge per #Hashtag zu finden. -> also es gibt vielleicht Toots die ich gerne lesen würde, aber ich finde sie nicht weil noch keiner auf meiner Instanz der Tootenden ( auf einer anderen Instanz) folgt.

#HashtagFederation wäre eine Lösung, gibt es aber noch nicht
