Socialhome v0.23.0 released

Work continues towards a full replacement of the UI layer! @[email protected] has been hard at work again, working on both the UI layer, but also the backend and the federation library. Massive kudos <3

This is the last release where it will be possible to use the old UI. The next release is expected to completely remove the old UI, which will be a much welcome clean-up of the code base.

When updating, please note the instructions for running Socialhome with the new UI. The old setting to enable the new UI is gone, instead you will need to route to it using your reverse proxy. In the next release this will become mandatory as the old UI will disappear from the Socialhome backend container.

While things are in flux, unfortunately there aren't very good example ways to run the Socialhome backend and the new frontend. We're hoping to improve on this with the next release, when the old UI will be fully removed. Please pop in our chat room if you have issues attempting to run Socialhome.

Please note due to build issues with the old UI, arm images are not available for this release. If you need them, please ask in the chat room and we will figure something out.

This is not all! The release of v0.23.0 also contains a bunch of other changes and fixes. See the full changelog. Additionally, the federation library has received a ton of changes and fixes which can be found here.

What is Socialhome?

Socialhome is best described as a federated personal profile with social networking functionality. Users can create rich content using Markdown. All content can be pinned to the user profile and all content will federate to contacts in the federated social web. Federation happens using the ActivityPub and Diaspora protocols.

Il Tempo: Figc, Gravina verso le dimissioni: Malagò in pole per la successione

(Adnkronos) - La parola d'ordine, in Figc, è cambiamento. L'opinione pubblica e le istituzioni (con il ministro per lo Sport e i Giovani Andrea Abodi in testa) chiedono le dimissioni del presidente della Federazione Gabriele Gravina, dopo il terzo Mondiale consecutivo fallito dalla Nazionale. A prescindere dal consenso delle componenti federali - che Gravina potrebbe aver conservato, dopo l'elezione del 2025 con il 98,7% dei consensi - le dimissioni sembrano inevitabili. Con la richiesta di cambiamento sempre all'orizzonte. Ma chi può essere il suo successore in Figc per far ripartire il movimento?
Per la successione di Gravina, oggi in pole position c'è Giovanni Malagò, ex presidente del Coni, fresco del grande successo delle Olimpiadi Invernali di Milano Cortina 2026. Il suo nome è al momento il più forte tra i possibili candidati, anche perché Malagò gode dell'appoggio della Serie A. Ieri, non a caso, il presidente del Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis aveva fatto il suo endorsement: "Il mondo dello sport, dove c'è di mezzo anche lo Stato, è stato foriero di grandi successi. Ne abbiamo avuto riscontro alle Olimpiadi invernali e alle scorse Olimpiadi. Malagò è stato uno che ha lavorato molto bene, ineccepibile dal punto di vista professionale. Uno come lui, abituato a fare sempre il meglio perché è un grande professionista e lo ha sempre dimostrato, è uno che può dare piuttosto che prendere, è dotato di una certa umiltà. Purtroppo nel mondo che ci circonda molti vogliono essere lì per prendere, senza capire che per ricevere bisogna dare. Non c'è dubbio alcuno che se Malagò prendesse in mano il calcio italiano, quest'ultimo risalirebbe prestissimo la china".
In corsa si sono anche Giancarlo Abete, numero uno della Figc dal 2007 al 2014 (e già potenziale candidato alla presidenza della Federazione dopo il fallimento a Euro 2024, con eliminazione agli ottavi contro la Svizzera). Sullo sfondo anche Matteo Marani, presidente della Lega Pro, e Demetrio Albertini, candidatura preferita dal mondo dei calciatori. Tra gli altri nomi anche quello di Michele Uva, nominato oggi Executive Director of Euro 2032 Italia.

Public opinion and institutions (with Sport and Youth Minister Andrea Abodi at the forefront) are demanding the resignation of the Federation president, Gabriele Gravina, after the third consecutive World Cup failure by the National Team. Regardless of the consent of the federal components – which Gravina might have retained, after the 2025 election with 98.7% of the votes – resignation seems inevitable. With the call for change always on the horizon. But who could be his successor at the FIGC to restart the movement?

For Gravina’s succession, today in pole position is Giovanni Malagò, former president of the Italian National Olympic Committee, fresh off the great success of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Also in the running are Giancarlo Abete, number one at the FIGC from 2007 to 2014 (and already a potential candidate for the presidency of the Federation after the failure at Euro 2024, with an elimination in the eighths against Switzerland). In the background are also Matteo Marani, president of the Lega Pro, and Demetrio Albertini, the preferred candidate of the footballers. Among the other names is also that of Michele Uva, appointed today Executive Director of Euro 2032 Italy.

So I spawned my first Forgejo runners on Codeberg with Ansible. I guess the migration can now slowly begin. Finally I can hopefully create custom VM image templates within a CI.

I'd like to see a replacement of Vagrant written with rust with custom hosted vm image registries supporting federation. But until then I can probably use Codebergs artifactory store to host the images.

Un gruppo di contestatori, infatti, ha colpito l'ingresso principale di via Allegri compiendo un atto vandalico. Nelle immagini i segni della protesta per il risultato della Nazionale.

Last night, following the defeat and elimination on penalties against Bosnia, the headquarters of the Italian Football Federation was targeted: eggs were thrown at the Federation’s building in Rome.
