US and Iranian officials have begun talks in Switzerland, just five days into a 60-day ceasefire agreement that already appears under strain. Tehran claims it has closed the Strait of Hormuz, citing the continued fighting in Lebanon, while Washington says the talks are focused on ending Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions and securing a lasting end to the conflict
Afghanistan 🇦🇫According to a report by the Tasnim News Agency of Iran, the country's negotiating team has left the venue of negotiations in Switzerland in response to the latest threats from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Earlier, talks between the United States and Iran began in the “Bürgenstock” area of Switzerland, mediated by representatives from Pakistan and Qatar.
During the talks, U.S. President Trump threatened that if Iran disrupts the Strait of Hormuz, “the country called Iran will no longer exist,” and the Iranian negotiating team would not be able to return home.
He also responded to statements made by Iranian President Masoud Barzani regarding uranium enrichment, saying: "He (Barzani) should pay attention to his words, or else we will occupy the rest of his country."
In response to Trump’s aforementioned threats, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf said that they do not fear American threats and that they should exercise caution in their statements.
He added that if America takes any action against Iran, their forces are ready to respond.
