Primroses grow in small clumps in lots of places on the Haining Estate. These were beside the path on the western shore. There is a bank above the path on the eastern shore where they are sometimes seen en masse, including (I'm told) some rare varieties.

Spring appears to have arrived late in the Scottish Borders this year, but leaves have at least developed on this knarled old tree, which overhangs the Loch on its eastern shore. They stay a very pale green throughout the growing season.
