It’s that time o’ year again, an’ we havenae had a drop o’ rain fur two days. So, wi’ a heavy heart, I’ve had tae put the batteries on charge an’ dae a wee bit o’ work. The cats’ve picked the dog as the best lad tae keep an eye on things while they snooze next tae the radiatoor (I didnae say it was warm).

The dug's keepin a close eye on the goin's on. Just no too close, as he’s sittin in front o the mower.

By request we took the ‘Borders Abbey Way’ for a photograph of one of the relatively few thatched cottages in The Borders - that of Dr John Leyden - a fascinating man. More details in Marjorie Gavins’ account in the link.

The roof is still there, but looks as though it will need renewing pretty soon. A monument the stands on the green.

It’s a small music festival but ‘being mainly classical with some jazz and folk’ it is too niche? 🤔🙄

Someone might remind the councillor how many visitors it bring in to Melrose as well. He might also want to try attending/

Seen on yesterday afternoons run, the little noticed (by others, it is off the main road that runs below the hamlet) chapel in Cavers in the Scottish Borders. When you get closer, the little details on the building are fascinating.

Taps aff (well almost)

Remarkable the number of people that a wee bit of sun brings out into the open. Reminds me of Newcastle on a cold Saturday night 🤣

Over a number of months I have been catching a view of Ruberslaw in different weathers as quick oil sketches - no more than 30 minutes on each for a poster the kids wanted and this is the prototype. A little finishing required.

Morning walk (with balls)

After several lovely days it was dreich this morning - and we were out an hour earlier which didn’t encourage me. A hat, waterproofs and gloves morning. But thank goodness for the water trough that comes at the end of 30 minutes of hard ball throwing and before the rest of the walk.
