Den Bildbetrachter gThumb hat man oft ohnehin installiert. Mit ihm lassen sich auch sehr einfach die Metadaten in Fotos löschen:
ItseOpettelin kameran asetuksia. Eilisen kuvissa oli tarkennus pielessä. Vaihdoin ulko-Ruuvin pariston. Käväisin Prismassa. Silppusin salaatin. Koodasin.

Because my fresh installation of #gthumb won't recognise my years of meticulous tagging copied over from my old dotfiles and I want to die.
GoesternGestern einige Stunden Photos organisieren und bearbeiten unter #Linux probiert und mich gefreut, was geht: #gThumb ist nice, wenn auch etwas buggy. #XNView geht deutlich besser. #Darktable ist unübersichtlich, komplex, kann offenbar viel, öffnet aber keinen leichten Zugang. #Lightroom funktioniert im Browser durchaus brauchbar.
Es ist mühsam, aber motivierend. Irgendwann werde ich ohne #Windows auskommen, bestimmt! Aber ohne Lightroom? 🙈

When you say "self-hosting" do you mean something else than running your own cloud-service like one could do with Nextcloud or similar?
If you want just a program that saves your photo library locally, there are plenty of those. #gThumb, Photos in Gnome, #DigiKam and #Shotwellfor example
