@RickiTarr I'm getting a different life lesson from this log: I think the damage happened after the tree was felled. Some wood munching critter found paradise in a particularly wide and soft summer growth ring and stuck with it because why chew on the hard wood when there's more soft wood to be had. Or from the trees perspective: grow fast, grow weak.
