I'm sure at some point I've suggested somewhere that there's some sense in treating the run of settlements along the #GreatOuse from #StIves to #Brampton (and onwards to #StNeots if you're feeling optimistic) as a single "Ouse Valley Urban Area". They're all fairly interlinked, have many similarities and would benefit from a unified voice, especially in the context of local government reorganization. #OuseValley #OuseValleyUrbanArea #Huntingdon #Godmanchester

I remember the #floods in #Evesham in the early 2000s when things like that happened.

There are #marinas on the #GreatOuse that have #floodpoles permanently in position so boats don't get work their way #ashore like that in flood conditions.

My own boat is a Hampton Safari, something a little like yours, and I'm working on a Safari history site. Here's a typical marina image from the site.

If my identification of these is correct this is a new #bird sighting for me - a pair of #Goosander in the #GreatOuse near #KingsLynn...

This is the river Great Ouse in Ely, Cambridgeshire, the town where I live. The riverside is the most restful place I know. Quiet and peaceful but with a gentle hum of background bustle. Swans and small boats on the river, ducks, geese and the occasional cat on the tow path. It’s also a bit of a plane-spotter’s paradise - the #UnitedStatesAirForce are our near neighbours at #Mildenhall and #Lakenheath. #Ely #Cambridgeshire #GreatOuse #dwprovincialbritain

Managed to pop to the #boat this morning at the #boatyard on the #NorfolkBroads and removed all the old ID.
As I'm a new owner the #BroadsAuthority issued the new nuymber stickers at no charge to replace the old ones that had been obliterated while on the #River #GreatOuse. The lettering for the new name arrived at the beginning of June. Both will be fixed in place on our #HamptonSafari once the weather dries and I have given the hull a good clean.

Just discovered #BoatsThatToot. Will start to use it.
Last week we got our gearbox to our local boatyard. The rest of the boat was meant to arrive a week ago. Tonight we learnt that it should arrive on Tuesday.

The photo shows a mock-up of how the boat will look once its new name is applied. Read more at:
