JeSuisUnHombre@libramoon (these are personal beliefs not an expert's opinion) I'm not totally convinced that the positions themselves have 0 merit, but I'm definitely against the hierarchical nature of them being 'leaders'. The need for such figures is born out of our indoctrination to #GreatManTheory, that's the part that's difficult to overcome societally. Basically I want much more democracy with any office appointments being moderators rather than bosses, and with much greater accountability to the public
benxAs far as I can remember, the best that the Terminator film series managed to achieve, when attempting to move beyond the Great Man Theory deceit embedded in the franchise, was to shift it over to "Great Woman Theory" instead.

Watching the Sarah Conner Chronicles at the moment because I love time travel sci-fi and the "fight against big tech" feels very pertinent.
While I have been enjoying the moral quandaries the characters have been forced to reckon with, the constant reinforcement of the Great Man Theory is hella frustrating.
Am only on Episode 4 so far, so I'm yet to see if this will be too much of an issue for me to keep watching it.

Hence, it's why we think of some companies in terms of their CEO, even if said person has only been there a week or two. Or why we think of nation-states as their leaders.
It oversimplifies the workings of both geopolitics and the economy by attributing every action that X business or Y country does to a single individual and erases all the people who had to put in the actual work to make something happen.
Thus to recognise the struggles of the many in the collective of a business or nation is #antiCapitalist
