Pete the Gopher Keeper'Afternoon gopherers! I'm pleased to announce that today we achieved our 16000th file in the gopherhole which now holds just over 17Gb.
For reference, that monumental last file is at https://petergarner.net/gopher/Stuff/standards-document-19h-v7.pdf and its description is "UK CAA Standards Document 19(H) Version 7 Part-FCL LAPL and PPL (Helicopters) Skill Test Policy and guidance for Applicants". Never let it be said that we have a mundane selection of content! Anyways .. 20,000 is the next target.
Hey fellow gopherers! Do you regularly monitor your statistics/downloads? I'm still building my reporting system but my goodness, I've had nearly 19,000 files downloaded this month, so far.
That's just the genuine #GopherProtocol downloads. Since I opened up the web view as well, that's also gone crazy, with the Prepping category leading the way, and Cybertech, especially TPN (Papers, Specs, Decks, Manuals, etc) compiled by Trent Nelson and dehain). Also, the plant section deserves an honourable mention - there seem to be a lot of hardcore botanists hungry for data! Let me know if you're getting an uptick in traffic!

Dæmon S.I wonder when the so-called Dead Internet Theory (more of Dead Internet Eldritch Curse) first embraced the #fediverse. Because, now, #mastodon (and, by extension, all the other #microblogging platforms) offers this awesome feature of bots talking to other bots, so you won't miss this lovely aspect from the mainstream social media...
Didn't see it yet for #threadiverse but I bet it happens there, too... After all, there are entire instances and communities dedicated for bots to post, so I can imagine a scenario of a bot posting a thread that happens to include a YouTube video just for the thread to be replied by that Invidious bot that goes by "I found a YouTube link in your post" and/or another automod bot.
#geminispace, #gopherspace, #tildeverse and others better get ready for Dead Internet Theory, too. Soon available in a capsule/hole/tilde next to you. (Insert the smoking doomer guy emoji here: :doomer: )
