Free Software project maintainers: Imagine for some reason you suddenly find yourself unable or unwilling to use Microsoft. (😱 This would NEVER EVER happen, I know!!!)
Git may be nice and decentral, Github is not. Walled gardens are cozy but ultimately shitty homes. Nobody pays $7.5 billion for the privilege to host free software. Just ask the nice people behind #Codeberg what running that service means.
Your project deserves a better home than this:

Hot take: Hosting FOSS projects on Github is like having Fridays for Future meetups in Exxon Mobile Headquarters.
They made it cozy and cheap for you there, I get it. But don't call me absolutist for the audacity of having values and raising concern. If you don't see values in FOSS and prefer to be "pragmatic" that's a you problem. Not me being toxic.
@flathub Is it still mandatory to have a GitHub account to release applications on Flathub? Would be so fantastic to be able to join the ecosystem from outside the walled Microsoft garden, too.
#Godot is a big project hosted at Microsoft. If there is anything to the argument that smaller projects have to stick with Github to not lose contributors - doesn't that mean Godot has more freedom to leave?
Or, maybe ALL projects (big and small) just HAVE TO stay with Microsoft 🤷♂️ – somebody needs to tell Blender… they clearly didn't get that memo.
