anyone managed to get #gath.io fediverse integration to actually work?

i cant actually follow events, as it gets stuck on requesting a follow, that supposedly needs to be approved. this happens regardless of the option settings ('Users can mark themselves as attending this event'), ive tried it with both this option selected and deselected

was a really cool demo on #fediforum that i wanted to showcase, but sucks it i cant get it to work right now

There is #Gath.io and #Gancio which are working on #activitypub federated events. Nextcloud has events now. And https://foss.events are the ones I can think of off hand

Of the three platforms I've tried so far; #Mobilizon, #Gancio, and #Gath.io, only Gath seems to be aware of timezones. Unless the other two are inferring a timezone from my browser or OS defaults? But if I happened to be adding an event in #Aotearoa that I learned about while I was in China, that would be a faulty inference.

Tried to create an event at the #Gath instance at:

It told me that to create an event there I need an account on friend.camp. When I clicked the login button, it took me to a friend.camp login page, where the 'sign up' link redirected me to:
