The Scottish Government is considering the approval of a new gas-fired power plant in Aberdeenshire. But with mounting pressure from across the UK for all new fossil fuel projects to be ditched, we have a chance to stop this reckless plan from going ahead. One of the UK’s biggest energy companies (SSE) wants to build a second gas-burning power station in Peterhead together with Norwegian fossil fuel giant Equinor. This expansion would lock people into expensive energy bills for decades to come. The existing plant is already Scotland's number one polluter, and approving this new station would only deepen our climate crisis. We’re joining together with Friends of the Earth Scotland to push the Scottish Government to reject this destructive proposal and accelerate affordable renewable energy and home insulation instead.
