As I was scrolling down the article and the members were revealed, I did wonder at a few of them and why on Earth they had joined.

This sort of stuff should have been stamped out 60 years ago, of course. If it was backward within Vaizey's lifetime, it wasn't long ago enough.

And the whole idea that "actors" are not "men of refinement and education" smacks of some very old prejudices indeed being perpetuated. They'll be talking about "the lower orders" next.

It's interesting that none of the judges commented, although there probably are rules of conduct that prevent them from commenting.

It's also interesting that all of the actors who declared are for, and the business magnate is against.

I can make a shrewd guess as to which side Rees-Mogg is on. No wonder he kept schtum. He's probably under instructions to shut up, too.
