🚲 I biked a bit of the Great Allegheny Passage a few weekends ago and I keep thinking about how much fun I had! The GAP (Pittsburgh to DC) is a beautiful trail that I would highly recommend!

Had reason to reminisce about the wonderful bike trip in 2017 riding the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Towpath. What an incredible experience! https://bikestylelife.com/2017/11/01/bike-touring-round-up-bike-the-gap-co-canal-towpath/

Bike Touring Round-up: Bike the Gap + C&O Canal Towpath

Our first bike touring experience rocked our socks! (And made them very, very wet on a few days….). Bike travel for so many days felt unlike any vacation I’ve ever taken. We’ll be…

I'm contemplating a bike tour between Washington DC and Pittsburgh along the GAP and C&O canal towpath. It's 333 miles total and virtually all trail. There is Amtrak bike service along the route, meaning I could bike one way and take the train back. Lots of variables up in the air now so just curious if anyone out there has done this ride or has tips.

My 2023 bike tour is complete. PGH to Wash DC to Richmond, VA and then DC to New Haven, CT. 1,059 miles and zero flats. Lots of interesting sights. Really enjoyed riding across bridges I'd only previously drive across. Big thanks to the #EastCoastGreenway and the #GAPTrail and the #CandOCanalTrail #BikeTooter #bicycling
GAP Trail and C&O Canal Towpath Trail finished. Great few days riding. Saw lots of wildlife - mostly deer, fawns, rabbits and whistle pigs but also a fox, raccoons, a rattlesnake and a few Great Blue Herons. #BikeTooter #bicycling #biketouring #GAPTrail #CandOCanal
Some fun fun fungi were about 10 feet from our camp site at RoundBottom on Monday night. We arrived late and after wading in the Youghiogheny river a bit decided eventually that it was too cold to swim. More precisely it was too cold to be wet along the walk back from the river. Slept comfortably in a tent under the Adirondack shelter. At least 6 different varieties of birds volunteered for the job of waking us up in the morning with song. #gaptrail
