Still haunted by the #fuelprotests I saw firsthand on the roads approaching Dublin yesterday.

Norway is now reported to have a ‘Diesel Roar’ protest taking place around Oslo.

I think it is just a matter of days if not hours before the UK is hit by such protests.

This will bring into sharp focus how reliant we too are on ‘just in time’ supply chains delivered by road not rail.

There will no doubt be much handwringing and demonising of hauliers and farmers…but will UK gov criminalise them?

Turns out my nephew - lives in Ennis, works in Shannon - is on the side of the protestors. He complains his weekly petrol bill has gone from €75 to €100.

Ireland has got itself into the position where driving to work is de facto the norm.

It will take a lot more than handing out hi-vis RSA bibs to change this.

Today I was supposed to go to Dublin to see André Rieu (I bought tickets for my mam at Christmas, she wanted to see him).

Was hoping to travel on the bus, but then an hour beforehand, we learned that the bus was not going to be served because of the #fuelprotests blocking all every main entrance and exit.

It was too late to make other arrangements, and we have ended up not going, and I'm selling the ticket in the hopes that someone within Dublin might be able to go (and recoup some costs)
