Canadians concerned with protecting civil rights:
This weekend the fash have targeted all-ages drag events in multiple Canadian cities: Calgary, Coquitlam, and Peterborough for starters.
While it's easy to write off what happens here as being distinct from American trends, we should really take note and plan to shut this shit down early, before it gets to the point it currently is south of the border.
In case you missed it, over 120 events featuring drag queens were targeted in the USA last year, with everything from:
โ๏ธ threats of violence (some resulting in shows being cancelled);
โ๏ธ to shows of force by armed brownshirts;
โ๏ธ right up to an attack on the power grid in a North Carolina city that cut power to 45,000 residents on the night of the show.
Already, Canadian venues have seen attempted arson, bomb threats, and standoffs between right wing disruptors and counter-protestors.
If we do not get on top of this NOW, we have seen the trajectory these assholes will take.

Show up for community.
It IS important.
โจ๏ธโจ๏ธ
Protect attendees and participants alike. Tell the shitheads -- many of whom drive from city to city and are not representative of the local community -- that hate is not acceptable.
Gather friends and make an event of it. Play music to drown them out (but not disrupt the event inside!).
Form a barrier between the fash and attendees with flags and colourful banners to make them feel welcome and safe.
Get planning!
The weekend comes quickly!
Cheers!
