So What Does It Mean to Be a '#FriendofDorothy?'
A "friend of Dorothy," is a coded phrase used by #LGBTQ+ people in the past to identify fellow members. The term came from #JudyGarland's role in "#TheWizardofOz," and Garland's status as a #gay #icon. Murray's reference to Christian as a "friend of Dorothy" in "#Clueless" was a nod to this #history. The phrase has since become a part of #queer #cultural #lexicon
