On page 73 of The Magic of Oz there's a footnote. It's a pronunciation guide for the word patio (because apparently Glinda now has one in her palace).
The footnote reads: *Pronounced pa'-shi-o'
Was that really how it was pronounced in 1919 Los Angeles?
