Does your community pay you to cycle to work?
This is shocking!
But also I'm now moving to Belgium. (Or I would do, if I were still working and commuting).
Tip: watch right to the end...

For #FridayBikeNite question
@StevenKennard and I wonder how many riders video any parts of their rides and for what purpose? Is it for safety, to use as evidence if they need to report someone for bad driving? (Like a dash cam.)
Or is it to record specific rides that you do to help other riders plan their own trips, when they see what it looks like? (For example we watched a YouTube video of someone biking a Nova Scotia trai that then inspired us to take a trip and go on that particular ride.)
Or is it only shorts to share on social media? Or just for your own enjoyment later?
If you do video your rides, do you just start at the beginning and not worry about special setups, just let it run? Or do you take extra care and set up point of view shots or coming and going shots or whatever?

I'd love it if it were
A. Legal
B. Possible
To have a flexible thin rod coming sideways out from the seat post into the road, with a warning flag on the end, the length of the required distance from the cyclists handlebar to an overtaking vehicle. I think my husband said he's seen one once, but not sure where, and I can't find anything like that for sale. It's spring mounted which means that if it should touch a vehicle it wouldn't cause an accident, but I presume that the fact that it's there would encourage a driver to go farther out to avoid damage to their car.
Does such a thing exist? Is it even legal, if it does?
I've seen the warning flags that are up in the air, but that's not what I want. The drivers probably see us, they just come too close to us. Or cut into clothes when pulling back in.
Cheers!
