The violence described in the book is unsettling as is the most recent violence in 2023 because it disturbs our (my) sense of “white stability” (Bayo Akomolafe), that false sense of peace that the world’ bourgeoise crave, as if nothing bad happens to those who are “The Wretched of the Earth.” That false sense of peace is maintained by the bias of the media and by our willful ignorance of what is happening in a historical context.
