Gonna start my morning writing some #PostcardsToVoters, in (mostly) #fountainpen:
(L-R)
a Pilot Vpen (aka Varsity)
a #Frankenpen (1940s #Esterbrook nib in a 1980s Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph body)
Parker '51 Special
Lady Sheaffer
Pilot Petit1
Uni-ball One gel
Parker '51
My new Fountain Pen / Frankenpen.
Hongdian N7 with #32 unit and feed, and Wingsung 699 nib.
This pen does not accept default #6 nib units, and even if, the cap would not close. Additionally, there was no M nibs around as stock. I had to find a shorter #6 nib and fit into the pen.
After some research, I learned that WS 699 nibs are in same length, and #32 nib units fit into the body. Got spares, and voila, it's a nice wet writer!

My new pocket pen
Does it count as a #frankenpen if I take an old Parker Jotter and refill it with a Japanese gel pen refill? What about a Fisher Space Pen refill?
Such are the concerns of a #stationery dork.
Am I fixing one #FountainPen with parts from another, or am I ruining two fountain pens? Time will tell.
My wife broke the tip of the nib or her Parker Vacumatic years ago (before she knew me, I think) and it has been languishing in a drawer ever since. Today, at an antique store, I spotted a similar pen with a slightly bent nib for $3. I just heated them both up with a hair dryer and removed the nib sections. Soaking the replacement nib in 10% ammonia solution now.
Behold! 1950s (?) Esterbrook nib in 1980s Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph -- my first attempt at a #frankenpen! Isn't it ugly?
Yes, it writes; no, it doesn't leak (so far). It's been my #EDC for a week or so. #fountainpen 🖋️
