First load test successful. Got a "trunk" full of firewood to the house. Should probably improve the mounting system somewhat 😆

The firewood store upgrades from last year have worked well. The recycled concrete pylons kept everything off the ground and well ventilated, even now during peak mud (melt) season. Some have sunk in a little under the weight, I guess every now and then I need to rebed them.
The replaced support posts haven't moved either and won't rot away like the old as they're no longer touching the soil.
Now to build another one like it :)
The melt is slowly returning some of my stuff.
Along with a bunch of mud and puddles.
The little firewood stash I built from scrap survived the winter intact. Some slight dents in the roof from heavy snow and ice, but good enough.
Alder is relatively light but has almost the same compressive strength as spruce/pine.
Not that much left of the old stuff, but I think I'll not try getting more without snow chains.
The very last piece of firewood on my porch had a bat under it. Didn't have my phone on me, and didn't want to play, so there's no pics. I put a couple small pieces of wood on top, and I guess I'll hope for the best. See if it's gone in the spring
It would all be easier if I didn't care. Brush off the black spiders, rehome the woolly bears, protect the snake and bat roosts... Using firewood is a *process*...
Fetching some more firewood from the distant barn.
Heard from the old village, due to the extreme cold, many are running low on wood pellets or do not have enough to last for the remaining winter. Shops and sawmills are out of stock, nothing more to buy. Scalpers are offering bags for twice the usual price on Skelbiu. Sucks if your heating can only run on highly processed firewood.
No problem starting the tractor today. The new engine oil may have helped, but mostly it was because it didn't dip below -10°C last night.
Bit of a struggle turning around in front of the barn to back the trailer inside, as you can see from the messed up snow.
