Yesterday I watched Lola (2022) by the Irish director Andrew Legge. It’s a microbudget film, set in 1938, about a pair of sisters who create a machine that can view TV signals and listen to radio broadcasts from the future. They initially help to defeat the Nazis in Britain’s war effort but timeslips happen, and things go terribly wrong, not least wiping David Bowie from history!
It isn’t perfect by any means, but it is full of ambition and ideas, and that’s to be applauded. #fims #movies

On Monday I watched a newly restored version of “Shoeshine,” the 1946 movie directed by Vittorio De Sica. One of those films whose lingering images are hard to forget. Anyone else see it?
