Now for the actual food at Mystic Pizza (Disclaimer: I am no food critic, so don't expect any flowery language from me about how the food tastes or anything lol.) I got a personal meat lovers pizza with pepperoni, sausage slices, and crispy bacon. The best way I can describe the flavor of the pizza, but especially the crust, it reminds me of what Pizza Hut's pizzas tasted like back in the 90s.

I don't mean to say this in any sort of negative way, I had always thought that Pizza Hut's pizzas was amazing best back in the day, and combined with the look and feel of this pizzeria, they have done a wonderful job invoking such a sense of nostalgia of a long and almost forgotten era.

As for the calzone... Well, I simply forgot to ask my wife for a bite and when I realized this, she had already eaten the whole thing lol.

Mystic Pizza in Mystic, CT - The very pizzeria that inspired the title of the 1988 romantic comedy-drama film, "Mystic Pizza" where Matt Damon made his first film debut, although it was only a minor cameo.

The movie wasn't actually filmed at this pizzeria as the owners did not want to close the restaurant for the duration of the filming process, which would've been for six months. So instead the studio built a fake pizzeria on Water Street in Stonington Borough, CT. Although the plot of the film takes place in Mystic, CT, most of the filming locations are in neighboring towns.

Shortly after the movie release, the real Mystic Pizza building was renovated to resemble the one in the film.
