If you're not aware, there's an alternative to figlet called toilet and it has a --gay flag you can use to print things in rainbow. I use this command to print a timer when I'm waiting for a job to run at a certain time and I'm impatient:

while true; do echo "$(date '+%D %T' | toilet -f term -F border --gay)"; sleep 1; done

A fresh #bash banner. Some Unicode box-drawing characters plus #figlet style text makes it work. Positioning the output from the various programs was much more of an adventure that I was ready for.
