I’m stuck in the group chatting swamp (Discord/Whatsapp/Signal), so i’m used to different rules in different servers and groups, but for following/mutuals and interacting on public posts is quite scary for me (like being afraid to say the wrong thing and getting banned)
What’s the overall ‘unspoken rules’ for posting on Mastodon and how do the different creatures interact here? (like furries, robots, cryptids, dragons, pokesonas, monsters, and human friends)

If we are encouraged to join an instance based on some interest/community/appealing factor, and also told that we can take our audience if we choose to leave that instance, why does the instance even matter? Are we more likely to see posts from our own instance or server? #Calckey question:
If I am viewing a #Mastodon post in my browser on its original site, what's the easiest way to open that post on my Calckey instance so I can reply?
For Mastodon I can just add "elk.zone/" to the beginning of the URL, or use one of the myriad of redirect browser extensions. Is there a Calckey equivalent? I think that's the last feature I need before fully switching over.

I worry that we soon may see many new instances shutting down because they've quickly become unmanageable. Where is the redundancy in the fediverse? What protections are there for admins experiencing insane growth? What protections are there for users who have an instance disappear? The abuse, excessive reports... folks our instance grew from 60 users to 22000 in the span of two weeks. I didn't expect to suddenly commit 6-8 hours of my day to this. Question: how common is it to have more than one account, and what is the etiquette around it?
Made a second account at dice.camp so that I won’t flood the general timeline with RPG stuff and and the other way around
Are there any rules about cross posting (cat pictures could go either way)? About following people from two accounts?
I realize that many folks will post locally only, and I've tried to account for that, but I still feel like I'm missing a lot of content.
The interesting things is that if I open up two different alt accounts, their Federated timelines are entirely different. Virtually no overlap. Why is that?
