Subject: 3-day water fast
I completed a 3-day water fast on Thursday, June 11, 2026. This was the 2nd such fast in the past month. This one ended up as 92 hours or slightly less than 4 days.
The goals of this type of fast are to induce ketosis and autophagy, to partly reset the immune system, to reduce inflammation, and to improve insulin sensitivity. It's a cornucopia of benefits. However, there are risks as well.
The fast was easy in part because I spent most of Sunday to Thursday ill in bed, not awake or asleep. It seems to be passing, and a severe cold or flu doesn't end that quickly, so it was something else. Probably not Covid as I've been vaccinated.
On Thursday, I ate a garden salad, 0.75 lb of grape tomatoes, turkey from drumsticks, and sliced ham. That knocked me out for 5 hours. I was definitely asleep.
I was delirious on Tuesday. Would you like to know what an Old Coder sees when he's delirious?
In my case, I spent hours imagining that I had an Xorg driver which could produce a display in thin air so that I could work without making it to my laptop.
I wasn't so delirious, though, that I didn't see there was probably no way to project a keyboard which would work. I shrugged and dreamed that I was typing at a Linux CLI prompt regardless. In my Linux distro, of course. That is where I need to be and what I need to be doing.
The trick now will be to maintain a diet, between fasts, with adequate nutrition that falls into the range of 1,550 to 1,950 calories [or kcal] per day.
