Not all repairs go well. Apple USB SuperDrive with a broken loading/ejection mechanism. It has at least one loose spring near that yellow part (and I think I made it worse). Unfortunately I can’t get the drive to open (non-destructively…) enough to get to it and try to fix it. Oh well. Can’t even replace the drive itself inside the nice metal case easily because the cable is soldered directly to the drive (apparently it handles USB directly). #FailureIsAlwaysAnOption

The saga of the Chevy Volt in cold climate conditions continues!

Today's adventure: the window on the passenger-side front door got stuck in the down position. This seems to be a result of the utter failure of the window regulator.

Parts have to come from US. Mechanic hacked the door to keep the window up by clever use of vice grips in the panel (tape in cold weather leaves QUITE a film, so not an option). Will be like this for 1-2 weeks.

Please ... no more failures. #FailureIsAlwaysAnOption

The base will be welded steel, but since we're out of gas for MIG welding, I tried my hand at a stick welder, and well, I guess I'll wait until we can get proper shielding gas again 🙈 #failureisalwaysanoption
