How the fuck can i fire snippets via the user buttons on the behringer wing!?!?!?!?
Did sound for a lovely TOOL tribute out of #quebec tonight. They had their tones dialed in. It's a lot of fun to push the room with a band like that.
I do this thing for high energy rock bands where I'll not do much compression on the channels. Instead I have a buss for each instrument, and a corresponding control group (DiGiCo-speak for a DCA/VCA). The buss gets the compression and saturation, etc. I can then pull back the group while pushing the CG to get more compression, or bring up the group while knocking back the CG to open it back up.
This gives me a lot of instant control over the dynamics and volume to punch up the big important parts while maintaining overall headroom, resulting in a dynamic yet consistent mix.

Progress on the FOH OpenSoundMeter matter. Got me the Behringer X-Live card so recording is done straight to the SD card from the console and the USB interface is free to do OSM tasks.
Somehow this was the easiest/cheapest way of doing what i wanted. Testing turned out ok. Have to set up the OSM settings to show what i want but we're getting there.
Very excited to next live gigs with this setup. Developed some things for the "performance" part of live mixing. π€
(If you want a modest capable FOH guy and you even can pay for it a little, hit me up!)

So i had a FOH spot that was far away from pretty but as if been told by the crowd the sound didn't suck completely.
Everything working out like i planned was a great feeling.
To the FOH fellows here...
I'm testing snippet cues like gtrs up a bit for chorus, snare up on blastbeats aso.
Do you automate channel faders and leave dca for manual leveling or do you automate dca and do the "every night is different" adjust on the channel level?
I have pros and cons on either side an are happy to hear other thoughts on this.
