Some #pcb we etched with our machine! Fun fact: with Liquid Blade 3D you can also #etch #flexpcb

We are launching our Kickstarter on Monday :blabcatpeek::
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/athenatech/liquid-blade-3d-cut-and-etch-metal-with-your-3d-printer

We are looking for #makers, #artists, #3Dprint experts to give us some #feedback! What would you do with it?

I'm thinking about replacing a USB 3 Micro-B receptacle (the wide boi, who ever thought of that garbage, srsly), on a board I'd like not to redesign from scratch, with an adapter board to a USB-C receptacle (that I would design). The device only requires USB 2.0 connectivity, thankfully (it's a keyboard, thanks for asking).

The existing connector footprint has 0.65mm pitch, 0.4mm wide SMT pads. I'm guessing castellation will be impractical at such small sizes (and hobby budget) and I'm thinking of using gold fingers on a Flex PCB, to solder across, instead.

I'm coming up short on finding similar designs, even though "Flex PCB soldered on top of existing board" seems to be a common pattern of the console modding community.

Any fedi #Electronics or #Modding experts have resources on #FlexPCB design gotchas?

So I have had an insane idea for a long time but the existence of Kailh PG1316S suddenly made it closer to possible. I would unfortunately take me way out of my comfort zone…

Really frustrating when companies don't put the 5.1k usb c resistor on the connector. Devices that can't be charged using a USB C to USB C cables are not USB C comparable. Just received a really nice Mp3 player (don't ask) and it doesn't have resistors... Lucky for me I have a solution. I remixed these tiny flex PCB's that will let you add the resistor easily #usbC #FLEXPCB https://facelesstech.wordpress.com/2023/01/28/usb-c-retrofit-5-1k-cc-resistors/
USB C retrofit 5.1k CC resistors

tl;dr So a few months ago I seen a post on hackaday about adding CC 5.1k resistors to USB C ports that didn’t have them. This would allowed them to be charger from a USB C to USB C charging ca…

Getting to be friends (and collaborators) with super talented makers has some nice bonus benefits! In addition to the gorgeous Fibonacci heart pendant, @jasoncoon sent me a flexible PCB he designed and assembled (!) that has 128 tiny addressable LEDs laid out in a Fibonacci pattern, along with the vector file to cut out a faux leather cover. The whole assembly looks truly stunning in cuff bracelet form.
