After setting up #Immich a few months ago, I noticed that a lot of my photos were out of order in the timeline. So I built a small #OpenSource tool:

It scans media folders and fixes exif data. I’ve now run it on 30,000+ files, and it already cleaned up a huge part of my own Immich timeline. Maybe it helps others bring their photo library back into order too. Feedback, bug reports, ideas, and pull requests are very welcome.

El de los datos Exif es un tema recurrente en mis cursos no tanto porque vayan a utilizarlos la mayoría de alumnos sino porque pueden revelar cosas que no quieren como ubicación, hora de la captura o modelo de teléfono. Afortunadamente la mayoría de redes sociales (Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon o WhatsApp) ya eliminan esa información, pero yo intento no fiarme de terceros para estos temas.

Personalmente borro estos datos de las fotos que comparto usando Image Toolbox y aprovecho para ajustar su tamaño y compresión. Sin embargo, en el artículo recomiendan Scrambled Exif que parece también buena opción y más especializada en ello.

Merde! Ussually #smartphones have a hardware #compas mounted. Why do they not add the global direction, or even all 3 directions/rotations in the #EXIF data if a #photo ?

A nice #picture of a #mountain, #position known - of the picture - but not the #direction, the photographer was shooting.

Snap Send Solve app on Android no longer reads EXIF location data from photos so I have to manually enter address details which is very tedious.

I have location on and precise on and only while using app on for app.

I take photo and upload into app from gallery.

I Iooked at info of photo in gallery and it has location so app or Android is blocking reading of EXIF data.

It used to work.
