Things changed in a year!
Now I'm back in Catalonia, where I get to use #Catalan way more often than all the years I spent abroad.
#English is the language I speak at home and, when needed, at work.
I couldn't continue studying #Portuguese after moving here, but I keep it alive as much as I can — and I know that's obvious for many of you.
And #Spanish is my main language at work.

🧵 The #EuropeanDayOfLanguages is tomorrow. Are you multilingual? How many languages do you use? Which ones have you studied? All four languages I speak originated in Europe, and except for one of them, most of their speakers are in the Americas:
ピゴスパLearning foreign languages is one of my hobbies (which I tend to far to seldom, due to time restrictions, unfortunately).
But, #TIL that there is a 🇪🇺 European Day of Languages (which actually exists since 2001), and it's actually today. I also learned that I am one of 3 out of 5 Europeans who can speak a foreign language besides their native language. Furthermore, I actually know 5 out of the 24 official European languages which is actually a fifth of all European languages 🤯
Of course I don't speak all of them fluently (in fact it's only my native language (German) and English I feel really comfortable with). But non the less interesting to know and somewhat motivating to sharpen the other three, as well.
How many languages do my followers (or anyone stumbling upon this post) speak? How many would you like to speak? What was the last language you learned, or what is the language you are currently learning, or the next one you are planning to learn? And why not start today, at the "Day of Languages"?

🧵 Cresci num lar em que se falava uma só língua: o #castelhano. O meu pai e a minha mãe vieram de duas regiões espanholas (Castela e Estremadura) onde esse era o único idioma usado. Tenho três irmãs que nasceram no País Basco, mas não chegaram a aprender a língua própria dali. Vim a este mundo numa altura em que a família morava em Aragão, uma terra da qual não tenho memórias, pois partimos para a Galiza quando eu era ainda muito novo.
