I have seen some (non-aggressive) alt-text advocates write the alt-text themselves, and offer it to the users (who didn't add alt-text).
That is much, much better than yelling at someone (for not including alt-text)!
No nagging. No aggressiveness. No hostility.

But β the aggressiveness of those alt-text and CW advocates was (and probably still is) causing people who newly joined the Fediverse to leave β
Because one of these new users' early experiences on the Fediverse feels like they are being yelled at by these alt-text and content-warning advocates. And, don't feel welcomed. And leave.
There is a better way β

I think one good thing about it is that β it feels like the very aggressive alt-text and content-warning advocates seem less common.
That doesn't mean that alt-text and CWs don't have value. (I often add alt-text, for example.)
