Crew on board an #Eagle_S oil tanker accused of sabotaging cables in the #Baltic_Sea were poised to cut other cables and pipelines - #Reuters

The head of the investigation, #Risto_Lohi of the National Bureau of Investigation, said the vessel was threatening to cut a second power cable, #Estlink_1, and the #BalticConnector gas pipe between Finland and #Estonia at the time it was seized.

#NATO will increase its presence in the #Baltic_Sea.

◾️#Estonia has sent a patrol ship to the #Baltic_Sea to protect the #EstLink_1 energy cable. The vessel will be in active contact with the #Finnish Navy and border guards of the neighbouring country and will act on the basis of mutual agreement.

▪️By preliminary information, #Eagle_S, the ship detained for being a suspect in damaging the cable belongs to the #Russian shadow fleet. Four data cables are also currently out of service.
