Epidaurus, built in the 4th century BC, is considered the best preserved ancient Greek theater and remains almost unaltered since its construction.

It has incredible acoustics — actors on stage can be heard perfectly by every one of the 13,000-14,000 spectators, even from the furthest seats, and it still regularly hosts performances and festivals in summer.

Among the few theatres with that level of preservation, the #Epidaurus theatre is famous for its excellent acoustics. Ironically, this was where I found the most expressive silence. Only a few noisy tourists’ voices ‘testing’ the natural microphone convinced me to turn to the nearby Asclepius sanctuary.
