The rise of end times fascism

The governing ideology of the far right has become a monstrous, supremacist survivalism. Our task is to build a movement strong enough to stop them

Interesting book review of "Up From Socialism: My 60-Year Search for a Healing New Radical Politics" by Mark Satin.

"The last page reveals the 'moral' of the book: “Only by becoming #kind people can we create a kind world.”

"...Satin argues that we... cannot move forward unless we (a) learn to be kind to self and others, and (b) listen to and learn from all engaged Americans.... We should listen to him."

It Isn’t ‘The System’ That’s Holding Visionary Activists Back From the World We Want | Common Dreams

A new book by Mark Satin—Up From Socialism: My 60-Year Search for a Healing New Radical Politics—makes a powerful case that the real answer lies not with the system but within.

Common Dreams

The brutality and inhumanity of the ongoing assault by Israel on #Gaza is horrifying and needs to stop. The #UnitedStates is not doing enough to end this attack, but rather funding it. I call on all thinking people, #Chrstian, #Jewish, #Muslim and #Buddhist alike, to make your voice heard to end this.

I encourage you to read this long, thoughtful e-zine by a group of #EngagedBuddhists who call for a stop to harm and suffering.

I have to write a short speech, to be given sincerely to people who are tired and threatened and often derided in the UK press. The topic is something vital and empowering, but recent experiences working across organizations have been disheartening. I found myself staring at the screen, trying to lift myself up so that I would not slump into lazy metaphors or vacuous platitudes. I looked at a colleague and said, "I _must_ write something better than the copy on a detergent box".

I'm going to have to believe in the people I have to collaborate with on this. I have to see them as Buddhas even when they cannot. The Bodhisattva vow is hard that way. Every single word.
