Anyony got a hint if it is possible to disable the Jitsi Meet integration ein Element so it does not show up in the client? I only have element call rolled out on my server and would like to avoid confusion.

Okay Element Call seems to work too. Dont ever try to test that with Element Web if its not on the same domain. The Cors errors will drive you nuts. #matrix #synapse #selfhosting #elementcall

@jim any idea why they created a new one instead of using Element Call or Jitsi? Especially Element Call would be more or less compatible with Tchap they are already using. Does Visio have any technological advantages over them?

@nihkeys @tommi kiintoisaa. Näyttää olevan osa Suite Numeriqueta jossa on yhä Matrix-pohjainen Tchap pikaviestinratkaisuna.

Jos oikein ymmärrän niin tuo Visio vastaa Jitsiä/Element Callia eli on enemmänkin videopuheluplatta. Toisaalta en oikein ymmärrä miksi keksiä uusi alusta, kun nuo on jo olemassa.. Ellei se perustu esim Element Calliin jolloin olisi Tchap-yhteensopiva. Oma ranska ei taivu riittävästi että saisin yksityiskohtaisemmin selvää.

Props to the people working on @matrix and @element for making Element Call.

I deployed the LiveKit backend on my Matrix server which was, frankly, quite tricky.

Once it's set up, though, it works super well. I've been using it to communicate with my wife during a week in Birmingham. It has now been battle-tested in a variety of 3G/4G roaming networks and different hotel and aiport Wi-Fis, all while the server was hosted in a different country.

Ok, ich bin jetzt seit etlichen Stunden damit beschäftigt #Matrix #Synapse dazu zu bringen #ElementCall zu verwenden... oida, ist das Setup ein scheiß.

Zuvor wurde einfach ein Turn Server mit WebRTC verwendet für Anrufe. Turn Server sind ein Ding für sich, aber irgendwie bekommt man es ja dann doch hin. Doch #ElementX besteht darauf Element Call zu verwenden. Das sind dann zwei weitere Docker Container die laufen müssen, die Nginx Konfiguration muss man umwerfen und anpassen und und und.

Die Entwickler von Synapse sollten langsam lernen ein vernünftiges Setup für Matrix zu ermöglichen. Ich verstehe durchaus, warum sich einige Admins den Mist nicht antun wollen. Man findet zwar alle Infos die man braucht in der Dokumentation, doch bis man die Infos wie Klemmbausteine zusammengesetzt hat, kostet dich das einige Nerven. Man hat 20 Tabs offen für so ziemlich alles was man beachten muss.

Ich habe es bis jetzt zumindestens hinbekommen, dass ElementX weiß, dass man irgendwie anrufen kann. Ob die Anrufe funktionieren, wird sich morgen rausstellen, wenn jemand die auch entgegen nehmen kann.
