Speaking of useful crawlies, do these earwig hotels actually work?

Supposedly the earwigs move in there and eat the eggs or caterpillars of the codling moths.

Do they? Do they eat enough to make a difference? Do earwigs even like these pots? Is there something better (if you say Roundup, consider yourself fired).

Walked face first into a spider's🕸️ web this morning while taking out the recycling. Bleh. One of the disadvantages of being the first one up. 🕷️
I like spiders, but not a faceful of web.

Then, back to the kitchen just to find an earwig on the sink. Ewwwwwwwww! The one bug that actually grosses me out.

Not an auspicious start to the day.

Normally my cat can eat all of the bugs in my apartment, but they seem to be coming inside at an accelerated pace. My venus fly trap has most of the fungus gnat situation controlled, but nothing seems to be stopping the earwigs.

I saw one or two last summer, but there are so many now. I can't keep them out because my door is so janky. Why so many??? I'm in a third floor apartment. I love bugs, when they are not in my house. Is anyone here an #earwig expert?
