Baghira hockt gerade wieder an der Innenseite der Terrarientür, für eine schöne Ansicht auf die Unterseite.

Das zweite, rechte Laufbein (hier im Bild auf 12 Uhr) hat sie vor etwa 4 Jahren einmal verloren und dann bei der nächsten Häutung wieder regeneriert. Zuerst war das dann deutlich kleiner und dünner als die anderen, aber inzwischen sieht man keinen Unterschied mehr.

Packing up my hammock, this beauty was peeking out as I cinched it tight. Glad not to have harmed it. Furrow orb weaver, Larinioides cornutus. This was the last campout till October (probably) without the bug netting.

Woodlouse spider.
They hunt pillbugs/sowbugs/roly-polys/whatever-you-call-them...
I guess they have long enough fangs that they can bite humans, but it's not dangerous; just unpleasant.

We didn’t use this illustration in the end as we couldn’t find a place for it in the story.

Island Spider is the story of Harry, a very hairy tropical spider that gets caught up in a bunch of bananas and is transported to a far away land.
