The #Kawasaki #EX500 was such a great motorcycle that it remained in production for 23 model years, from 1987 to 2009 (with minor revisions from 1993), before it was finally retired.

In 1988, it had the second-shortest stopping distance from 60 mph, after the #Honda #Hurricane #CBR600F, a vastly more expensive (and capable) #motorcycle that had dual discs up front and single disc rear, compared with the EX500's single disc front and drum rear.

I have always preferred midsize parallel-twin OHC engines with 180ยฐ or 270ยฐ cranks and balance shafts, because they are the sweet spot of power, physical size, simplicity, smoothness, weight, and cost. That's why my first #motorcycle was a 1988 #Kawasaki EX500A2 in Pearl Alpine White. It cost me $3130 out the door in 1988. My #EX500 looked just like this:
