#GuyVerhofstadt speaking at #EuropeanMovement in #Scotland annual dinner:
“We are at a turning point in Europe’s story. The European Union is one of the greatest political achievements of history. It brought 80 years of peace, stability, growing prosperity and liberal democracy to the continent. All the evidence is that the people of Scotland and of the UK wish they were still in the EU."

Starmer on the “Farage boats”, Rachel Reeves on the economic benefits of youth mobility… Are the Labour leadership starting to poke their heads out of their shells and dare to see a pro-EU pathway as a route both to fixing our woes and also attacking Farage’s Achilles’ heel? Let’s hope so.
The rumours Jeremy Corbyn & others would form a new Left party seems to be correct. Can the new party then attract to its core group (of independents & some MPs resigning from Labour),many more MPs & then financial support? On the surface it would seem possible, but given the torrent of attacks experienced by Corbyn when leasing Labour, they might find the media environment rather hostile; have we time for them to develop a new leftist grass roots movement? #politics https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyel9kgdvdo
AFAICT, the easiest way to understand the political situation in the two most similar Pig Empire nations to us is that they both more or less just had their 2020 election. Obviously the future isn't written, but given the programs put forward by both Carney and Starmer, I'm pretty sure they both go fash next election.
