A couple of years ago one of our mining magnates was paid A$4 Billion in dividends, for one year.
I did some "back of an envelope" calculations.
The bank interest on that one person's dividend for one year, *just the interest*, could pay for the increase to the minimum wage for one year.

Another opinion at the time (i.e. the 1970s) was that certain Americans couldn't stand the idea of constantly seeing the greatest airliner of all time in 'their' skies because it wasn't American.
