The Emergencies Act report says Doug Ford basically "abandoned" Ottawa during the Ottawa Occupation.

Where was the Premier of Alberta and the UCP during the Coutts Blockade?

Border protests in Coutts, Alta., a 'concrete manifestation' of risk to Canada: Rouleau | CBC News

Events that transpired during a 17-day protest near the border town of Coutts, Alta., were central to Justice Paul Rouleau's determination that the federal government had met the threshold to invoke the Emergencies Act.

I'm old enough to remember UCP MLAs publicly supporting the illegal Coutts Blockade.

"The situation in Coutts involved a hardened cell of individuals armed to the teeth with lethal firearms, who possessed a willingness to go down with the cause." #cdnpoli #ableg #yyc #Coutts #CouttsBlockade #Ottawa #OttawaOccupation #EAInquiry #EmergenciesAct

@jbf1755 we see the same issues here in Canada, whether what happened in Ottawa, Windsor, and Coutts was a truckers’ protest, a convoy, an occupation, or an attempted insurrection. Words matter. It was clear from the EA Inquiry that it was an occupation, and that there were insurrectionists present and primed to act.

Social media tools were key to 'Freedom Convoy' protest, expert tells inquiry

Cybersecurity experts say a federal inquiry should think of social media as the central nervous system of the "Freedom Convoy" protest in Ottawa last winter.

Doug Ford's lawyers argued that he couldn't testify at the EA Inquiry because he has a day job.

And yet during the entire week of testimony he didn't even bother to show up at his day job in the #Ontario legislature. Not one day.

All of which brings me to (in my admittedly meandering & roundabout way - you can see how these things get up 100 posts) to Prime Minister Trudeau's testimony before the #EmergenciesActInquiry (heretofore referred to as the #EAInquiry) and what remains to be done if we indeed want to prevent anything similar from ever happening again.

(hint: the EAI on its own ain't gonna cut it)

@chad I completely agree. I don't see there was any other solution than the #EmergenciesAct , unfortunately. I live in Ottawa, know people who had to leave their home in the red zone during the occupation, and followed along with the #EAInquiry every day. I felt such relief when the feds stepped up to clear it. I can't see me ever truly forgiving Ottawa police or Ontario leadership for inaction.

I absolutely agree. If anything has come out of the #EAInquiry it's that the #EmergenciesAct was entirely necessary.
