I'm learning helical knitting for the body of my Drip Dye sweater so the two hand dyed colors blend a bit better.

Y'all. Why did no one tell me this before? (Nevermind that I don't go to knitting nights or anything.) I can blend my two skeins and not have that annoying twisted seam?

I tried learning it years ago and it didn't click. For some reason, it did with this tutorial.

How to Knit Helical Stripes

Helical Stripes, or helix knitting, allows you change the colour every round but to avoid a jog you only knit to 3 stitches before the previous colour change, slip those 3 stitches and then pick up the other colour.

Stolen Stitches

I finished up the Wings of Wonder MKAL and have it off the needles, which made me think I can cast on something new! So I've started with the Drip Dye Sweater by Feinmotorik - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/drip-dye - and I decided that this was the time that I was going to learn how to do the Italian tubular cast on for once and for all.

I've tried before. It has not gone well. Then I came across Norman at Nimble Needles and his extensive photo and video tutorials. I will say that the photo tutorials are so good that I only looked at the video to make sure that I was understanding it correctly. The tutorial I used was this one - https://nimble-needles.com/stitches/how-to-knit-the-italian-cast-on/

I got to add a new tool to my knitting technique tool kit! I'm really excited because I do love doing a tubular bind off for ribbed cuffs and now I can have that for the collar as well.

Do you ever see a knitting pattern, have an idea for the color scheme, order it, have the yarn arrive, and it's so perfectly what you were imagining that you get a little choked up?

Yeah. I'm looking forward to this Drip Dye sweater. (Photos once I get some current projects off the needles.)
