That really is how my friends & I watched movies at my apartment, btw. We had an American TV & VHS-player. Also could rent movies from the US on the Am. military base bc my mom taught for #DODDS. So we'd rent movies, and if we liked them, my dad would copy them. Dozens upon dozens of illegally copied movies. Good times, eh?
So all my TV at home was American. If not movies, then #AFN. I missed out on a lot of German pop culture this way. And got

Volgens Formule E-CEO Jeff Dodds is het helemaal niet zo vreemd dat de Formule 1 vandaag de dag steeds vaker voor stratencircuits kiest. De eindverantwoordelijke van de elektrische klasse stelt dat de auto's van de koningsklasse steeds langzamer worden en dat past beter bij banen in binnensteden.
It's funny...or odd? or just human? But I'm thinking of how I grew up in this super conservative Christian family.... But my dad was a stage performer (bass-baritone in a German #opera house for 27 years), and my mom was an English/Humanities/Journalism teacher (working for #DoDDS) who had a copy of LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER on our living room bookshelves.
They moved us from Texas/Oklahoma to Germany in 1980 just so my dad could pursue his opera career.
