Several years ago, members from our team spent a lot of time to help train an AI tool called #cards

So, it's cool to see CARDS put to good use and bearing fruit as the underlying tool utilized to create @CCDHate's report about "The New Climate Denial"!

Favorite pull quote: “There is no relationship between hurricane activity and the surface temperature of the planet." Take a moment to fully unpack, savor that. 🙂

CCDH Report: The New Climate Denial

On January 16, 20224, The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) published the report 'The New Climate Denial'. The report and underlying study centers on data analysis performed by an AI tool, CARDS, developed by academics Travis G. Coan, Constantine Boussalis, John Cook and Mirjam O. Nanko. As some of you may remember, the initial training for CARDS was conducted by members from our Skeptical Science team, so it's cool to see it put to good use now! Read CCDH's press release below followed by a selection of other articles mentioning the CCDH report, some of which include quotes by John Cook.

Discourses of Delay and #FLICC feature large in a Brown University Climate and Development Lab report included in the government/NGO section of our weekly research roundup.

#OpenAccess academic articles among 158 in all include how to fairly exit fossil fuel extraction (ethically complicated), the "ignorance horizon" lying beyond likely imminent biological assemblage collapse-- and many more you'll never see splashed in headlines.

Open access notables In our government/NGO section this week, Brown University’s Climate and Development Lab report Discourses of Climate Delay in the Campaign Against Offshore Wind: A Case Study from Rhode Island applies earlier work by Lamb (Discourses of Climate Delay) and Cook (FLICC taxonomy) to put the bright lights on a organization attempting to fossilize energy supplies, finding archetypal examples of both systems littering that organization's rhetoric :
