It’s been a while, I’ve been busy making things and haven’t had the energy to post them!
Having settled on a simple shape that will be easy for people to make I finally have collaged two trees! One was made using a whole sheet of paper I collaged first. The checkerboard tree was glued one piece at a time!

I made a larger triangle tree maquette last night. As fun as the twist branches tree is, I feel like the triangle tree will be easiest for a new person to make. There is a lot of surface for collage to be added. We might even make up a small kit with the three triangles already cut, maybe even folded.

I’m playing with 3D tree shapes for a big, collaborative project in early June. I want easy to construct trees that can have collage elements added by each participant.
One is two, fussy cut shapes glued together.
My simple, triangle trees I made from the cutoff pieces left after making a giant, 3D snowflake out of an art history book. I used spray acrylic, although one I painted with watercolor.

Roy Ayers’ classic, “Everybody Loves Sunshine”, never fails to bring a smile to my face. It’s a life-giving, soul-lifting joy to listen to. It reminds us that the sun is coming back, at least in Portland it does!
